Functional Movement Classes

Physio Play’s small group functional movement program is designed by Physiotherapists and delivered by at least two instructors. They assist children to develop the necessary strength, control, cognitive skill and coordination to achieve age appropriate developmental milestones which prepare them for future life.

Under 2

For children under the age of 2, Physio Play focuses on developing fundamental strength (for both gross and fine motor) as well as introducing basic motor planning and sensory exposure through facilitated play. This fun and engaging environment encourages natural development of age appropriate movement skills such as crawling, grasp & release, walking and balance.

Toddler

At this age, children are encouraged to develop foundational movement skills in a more structured class. Strength, motor planning and integration skills are all furthered while auditory and visual sequencing is introduced through sport specific games and tasks.

Preschool

With only a short time until transitioning into school, children are exposed to the more formal structure of ‘sport’ and the important elements required to look after their body including; activations, strengthening, skill acquisition and stretching.

*Children are constantly monitored and the program modified/adjusted accordingly to best support the child. Feedback is provided to educators and parents regarding any observations to ensure holistic management.
